David Cook’s smash self-titled debut album is now officially eligible to be certified gold by the RIAA.
In the four weeks that it has been on the charts, it stayed in the Top 10 of the Billboard charts and now, it has sold more than 500,000 copies in the US alone!
As we also found out from Sony Music Entertainment Singapore, the album is also doing tremendously well in Singapore!
Congratulations David and I have a feeling that by February/March of 2009, we will have the record in your favourite colour following in the footsteps of “The Time of My Life”, PLATINUM!
If you haven’t bought the album already, it is now available at any major store in Singapore with a limited edition poster!

For anyone following Hits Daily Double they will know about this but in case there are some who don’t follow HDD Predictions, just a reminder that it is not official yet, the Nielsen Sound Scan numbers on Wednesday (Thursday for Singapore) will make it official.
HDD Predictions work by getting reports from 80% of stores in the US, so the Sound Scan numbers on Thursday will definitely be a tad higher than the HDD Prediction.
Right now, the current predictions that are in at HDD are at 50.65% of the totals and David stands at #7 (according to the prediction) and has 56,920 copies sold. If we times that by two to make it 100% (this is all crude estimation), David has a chance of reaching 113,840.
Since David has currently sold 478,504 copies (excluding this week’s numbers) we can safely say that David will have a gold album this week!
